HBS Professor – Leadership & Organizational Behavior
Ethan Bernstein is an Assistant Professor of Leadership and Organizational Behavior at the Harvard Business School.
Ethan studies the impact of workplace transparency—the observability of employee activities, routines, behaviors, output, and/or performance—on productivity, with implications for leadership, collaboration, organization design, and new forms of organizing.
At HBS, he teaches a second-year MBA course on Managing Human Capital, an immersive field course in Tokyo on Innovation and Leadership through the Fusion of Digital and Analog, and various executive education programs. He also created and chairs HBX Live’s inaugural multi-session course, Managing Your Career Development. For several years, he taught the first-year MBA course on Leadership and Organizational Behavior (LEAD) and a PhD course on the craft of field research.
Ethan has extensive experience conducting creative field research and field experiments. He has half a decade of consulting experience at BCG and experience as a C-level senior executive at the then newly formed Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
